    This study investigates the effectiveness of the geocell-based countermeasures against pipe flotation in liquefied ground using shaking table tests. Liquefaction-induced pipe flotation is a significant issue, particularly for agricultural pipelines, which are often installed in areas with high groundwater level. A conventional method, such as using geotextiles combined with gravel, is effective in mitigating this problem. However, the conventional method includes challenges in terms of workability, presenting a need for more efficient solutions. We propose a novel approach that employs geocells to enhance resistance against pipe flotation while potentially reducing labor costs. Geocells, which can be transported in a compact form and expanded on-site, are filled with soil or gravel to form a robust reinforcement around the pipe. This method is expected to offer significant advantages in terms of ease of installation and overall cost-effectiveness. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conducted shaking table tests using an aluminum pipe buried in saturated sand within a steel container. In this study, four different experimental cases were conducted: an unreinforced case, a case for the conventional geotextile method, and two cases for the geocell reinforcement. For the two cases with geocell reinforcement, the two experimental conditions were varied in the method of fixing the geocells and in the backfill material around the pipe. The results demonstrated that all conventional and geocell-reinforced methods significantly reduced pipe flotation compared to the unreinforced method. Compared to the unreinforced case, the case for the geocell reinforcement reduced pipe flotation by 24.6 times, and the conventional method reduced it by 13.6 times. In conclusion, the proposed method using geocells to prevent pipe flotation in liquefied ground has been confirmed as an effective alternative to the conventional method. This study provides a practical and labor-saving solution for improving the seismic resistance of buried pipelines in earthquake-prone areas.

    Abstract The number of cases of damage to reservoirs due to debris flows has increased. In this study, granular material was released down the slope in a flume model to observe the debris flow morphology in a reservoir and to examine the impact pressure on a model dam embankment. The model flume had a slope angle of 30°, slope section width of 300 mm, and reservoir section width of 800 mm, and a model embankment with pressure and water pressure gauges was installed. Several experiments were conducted by varying the grain size of the granular materials to 3, 6 mm, mixed, and initial water storage levels. Observations from a high-speed camera indicate that when the debris flow enters the reservoir, the momentum rapidly decreases immediately after inflow. However, a solitary wave was generated, with heights reaching up to 2.5 times the initial water level. Additionally, during the impact of the debris flow on the model embankment, a large impact pressure was instantaneously generated. The magnitude and frequency of the occurrence tended to be more pronounced when the grain size was large. Additionally, the instantaneous impact pressure reached approximately twice the average impact pressure. However, with the exception of instantaneous large impact pressures, the existing equations used in the design of Sabo dams and coefficients with a specific range proposed in previous studies can be used to successfully calculate the impact pressure acting on the embankment in relation to the velocity.

    Abstract In this study, we proposed a new method which mitigates pipe uplifting by utilizing geocells and geotextiles. The method resulted in labor saving in construction. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we reproduced pipe uplift by conducting push-up tests using a 150-mm-diameter pipe. The test results showed that the proposed method increased the peak resistance and the resistance at large displacement by 1.47 and 3.35 times, respectively, compared to the unreinforced method. The proposed method also increased the peak resistance by 1.13 times compared to the conventional method widely used in Japan. It demonstrated consistently high resistance even after the peak. This indicated that the proposed method is very effective as a countermeasure against pipe uplift. Furthermore, increasing the overall width of the geocell improved the resistance. In this study, two different approaches were used to evaluate the uplift resistance of the pipe. The approaches showed that, with geocell reinforcement, most of the dead weight at the pipe sides and above them contributed to the peak resistance. It was also found that the peak resistance of the proposed method can be predicted to some extent by modifying the previously proposed equation.

    It is difficult to backfill and compact the narrow space in the bottom side of the pipe and ensure sufficient quality. Insufficient backfilling may cause unexpected deformation and stress concentration in the pipe. In this study, a method of installing EPS as a pipe foundation was proposed, and its effectiveness was examined through a model experiment using 300 polyethylene pipes. The results showed that, when EPS is installed, depending on its geometry, slightly larger strains may occur at the bottom of the pipe or at the contact point between the pipe and EPS, but these strains are significantly smaller than the strain concentrations caused by insufficient backfilling and are not large enough to cause pipe failure, indicating the effectiveness of the EPS as a pipe foundation.

    In recent years, many small earth dams have been retrofitted because of deterioration. The phreatic lines in small earth dams with sloping cores are geometrically calculated with the sectional shape of embankment, the water elevation and the permeability of soil materials in the current design. However, there is possibility that actual phreatic lines and calculated ones are different because of the assumption that the foundation ground is impermeable. In this study, the problems of the calculation method for phreatic line in the current design have been organized based on the results of FEM analysis. As a result, it was found that when the permeability of the sloping core is low, the phreatic line calculated by the design calculation is on the dangerous side, and that the seepage flow of the foundation soil affects the phreatic line. To solve these two problems, we proposed methods to reduce the calculation error of the current design by using functions that include the permeability of each embankment material and to obtain results that are closer to the actual phreatic lines.

    We developed a rotary underwater abrasion tester that can be applied to high strength concrete materials with a large coarse aggregate. In this study, firstly, we experimentally investigated the test conditions under which the developed tester can generate stable flow and large abrasion action. The results confirmed that (1) a stable water flow can be generated when the initial water level is 40 cm and rotational speed is 70 rpm and (2) a large abrasive force was generated by using an abrasive material in the shape of a prism with a length of 19 mm, width of 19 mm, and height of 20 mm. Secondly, we performed an accelerated abrasion test for concrete and mortar and confirmed the characteristics of abrasion on the specimens. The results indicated that, when dissimilar materials are adjacent to each other, the downstream specimen, where the materials are switched, is affected by the dissimilar materials. Conversely, it was confirmed that a longer flow distance of the same material was effective in reducing the effect of the dissimilar materials.

    The liquefaction of backfill materials induced by earthquake shaking may cause the movement of pipe bend resulting in joint separation. Thus, in order to prevent the movement of pipe bend buried in the site where only backfill material is liquefied, we propose a thrust restraint using soil-cement produced by grouting or mixing cement with sand as a backfill material. Dynamic centrifuge tests were conducted to validate the restrain method. The test results indicate the followings: (1) When only the backfill material is liquefied, the pipe moves mainly within the range of the backfill material and the original ground is barely deformed; and (2) placing the soil-cement as the backfill material around the sides of the pipe along the direction of thrust force can significantly reduce the pipe movement during an earthquake. Even if the excess pore water pressure generated in the sand―which is the backfill material―is transmitted to the soil-cement, which can resist the thrust due to its adhesive force.

    Sheet pile construction has often been adopted for installations of pipelines in cases such as limited worksites or high ground water level. However, the sheet-pile extraction is likely to cause significant damage to buried flexible pipe. In the Japanese current design standard for irrigation pipeline, the influence of the sheet-pile extraction is empirically considered only by reducing the coefficient of subgrade reaction e´0. Thus, the difference in construction conditions is not accurately reflected in the design. In this study, the model tests on the sheet-pile extraction were conducted under the difference conditions of breadth of sheet-pile, using the flexible pipe in which the 20 biaxial load cells were installed circumferentially. As a result, the significant decrease in the earth pressure acting on the pipe and most of the pipe deformation occurred before the lower end of sheet-pile was extracted to the top of pipe. In addition, the wider the breadth between sheet-piles in this study was, the smaller the pipe deflection was, because the reduction of horizontal earth pressure was suppressed and vertical one was decreased.

    Sheet-piles are used in order to install pipelines. Sheet-pile extraction causes pipe damages such as excessive deformation and cracks. In recent years, it is required that pipelines be buried shallowly because of reduction of construction cost. There are few studies on the influence of construction on the shallowly buried pipe using geogrid. In the present study, model experiments were conducted in order to clarify the influence of sheet-pile extraction on shallowly buried pipe using geogrid. Test results showed that the pipe deformation was small in the case of using geogrid and gravel. However, the reduction of bedding due to the sheet-pile extraction may cause the concentration of earth pressure on the bottom of the pipe.

    In recent years, geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) have been used for repair of deteriorated small earth dams because of exhaustion of high quality cohesive soils. However, the design method has not been established yet, and the long term performance remains unclear. In this study, in-situ water level measurement has been carried out for about one year in a small earth dam repaired with GCLs to examine the water barrier performance and the phreatic line. In addition to the field measurement, FEM seepage analysis have been performed for this site to estimate the phreatic line. As a result, the water barrier performance of the GCLs sufficiently maintained. Furthermore, it was revealed that the phreatic line rose by more than 1 m due to the heavy rainfall which occurred during this measurement period. As for the numerical analysis, the phreatic line obtained from FEM analysis was good agreement with the observed value, and a comparison of the models with and without GCLs showed the effects of lowering the phreatic line and reducing the leakage.

     In the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, massive tsunami caused serious damage to coastal structures, such as coastal dikes and seawalls. One of the failure mechanisms of coastal dikes has been considered as local scour at landward toes of coastal dikes. Therefore, prediction of scour profile is indispensable in order to propose scour countermeasures and design of coastal dikes. In the present study, hydraulic model experiments were conducted to clarify scour process at landward toes of coastal dikes. Furthermore, on the basis of the present experimental results and previous studies, two predictive equations for scour profile behind coastal dikes were examined. It has been revealed that the predictive equation approximately agrees with the results of the experiments and the field survey.

     In this study, full-scale shaking table tests for embankments were carried out in order to estimate the earthquake resistance of small earth dams with geosynthetics clay liner for a short supply of clay material which requires sloping core zones at many sites. In the experiment, two types of embankments of 3 m of height were constructed in large soil containers respectively. The dynamic behaviors of embankments were observed by sinusoidal wave of maximum acceleration of 471 Gal. After shaking, several longitudinal cracks without water leakage were occurred at the crest of the embankment with geosynthetics clay liner. Finally, a series of the three-dimensional terrestrial laser measurements was tried to grasp the characteristics on the residual deformations of the embankments. As a result, it was found out that some locations and forms of the cracks can be confirmed relatively. Therefore, it was indicated that three-dimensional terrestrial laser scanner is effective as a utility of the measurement method.

    In recent years, many irrigation pipelines require a repair work by the deterioration. The aging pipelines have a risk for a leakage, a decrease of a capacity of flow and a serious damage during earthquake. As the repair work for aging pipelines, pipe rehabilitation has been used. However, the dynamic behavior of the rehabilitated pipe during earthquake has not been cleared. In this study, in order to clarify an influence of a shear deformation of grounds on the behavior of the buried rehabilitated pipe, shear tests and DEM analyses were conducted. As the results, it was revealed that the degree of the influence of the aging host pipe on the deformation of the rehabilitated pipe was divided into three types according to the damage levels of the host pipe and the relative density of the backfill material. In addition, the prediction equation on the deformation of the rehabilitated pipe to the shear deformation was proposed in consideration of the damage levels of the host pipe, the deformation modulus of the backfill material and the bending ring stiffness of the rehabilitated pipe.

    A deformation behavior of a buried flexible pipe used as an irrigational pipeline is not substantially clear during earthquake. In this study, in order to clarify an influence of a deformation of ground on the dynamic behavior of the buried flexible pipe, cyclic shear tests for buried flexible pipes having an outside diameter of 140 mm and 150 mm in the laminar box and DEM analyses were conducted. As the results, it was found that the 45-225 and 135-315 degrees deflection of the buried flexible pipe were larger than the 0-180 deg. (vertical) and 90-270 deg. (horizontal) deflection. This tendency became remarkable as the relative density of the backfill material increased. It was indicated that the relationships between the deflection of the pipe and the shear strain obtained from the analyses results could be in good agreement with the test results. In addition, the buried flexible pipe was deformed due to the contact force acted on the oblique direction of the pipe during earthquake.

    Recently, a bentonite sheet is often employed in deteriorated earth-fill dams for preventing water leakage. However, it is concerned that a slipping type of failure may occur at the boundary between the bentonite sheet and the fill material in the event of seismic attack. In this paper, seismic behavior of a small-sized earth fill model inside which a bentonite sheet was mantled was examined in shaking table test, and it was simulated by numerical analysis. It is manifested in the shaking table test that a shallow slip surface developed in the fill above the bentonite sheet, and no harmful deformation was observed along the bentonite sheet when subjected to seismic motion, noting also that the shallow failure was successfully simulated by pseudo static limit equilibrium analysis. In addition, it was confirmed that the seismic response of the model earth-fill was unaffected by the existence of bentonite sheet as examined by FEM seismic numerical simulations.

    Recently, the irrigation pipelines gradually lose its performance due to the deterioration and other factors, and the replacement or the improvement are required. It is necessary to develop a diagnosis technique which is advantage in the cost in order to maintain the performance of the pipeline. In the present study, in order to discuss the application of a shear wave resonating method to the diagnosis technique for ductile iron pipes, several experiments were carried out using an examination object in which the corrosion was simulated. As a result, it is found that the corrosion can be detected by comparing the measurement wave form of normal part and damage part. In addition, in order to evaluate the deterioration degree, the classification method has been proposed on the basis of the power spectrum by the plurality of frequency bands.

    Generally, the damage of pipeline becomes heavy when liquefaction occurs. However, the seismic behavior of pipeline in the liquefied ground is unknown enough. Therefore, the seismic design are not established systematically. In particular, the thrust force due to internal pressure constantly acts on pipe bend of the pressure line, such as irrigation pipelines. The resistance for the thrust force is passive earth pressure behind the pipe bend, but it is not considered that the passive earth pressure decreases when the liquefaction occurs. In the present study, model experiments were carried out in order to discuss the mechanical behavior of the pipe bend laterally loaded in the liquefied ground. As a result, it was revealed that the horizontal displacement of the pipe is increase and the horizontal resistance force is decrease significantly during liquefaction. In addition, it was found that the coefficient of subgrade reaction in the liquefied ground was reduced to 1/7 to 1/8 compared to that in non-liquefied ground.

  • 既設老朽管の損傷レベルが更生管力学挙動に与える影響

    近年,耐用年数を迎える農業用管路の増加に伴い,非開削での施工が可能な管路更生工法の採用が進展している。しかしながら,更生管の力学挙動は未解明で,設計手法も確立されていない現状にある。更生工法では,老朽化した既設管を撤去せずに管路を更新するため,半永久的に更生管外周に既設管が残存する。本研究では,既設管損傷レベルと荷重条件を変化させた土中埋設実験を実施し,既設管が更生管力学挙動に与える影響について検討した。その結果,既設管損傷レベルの進行に伴い,更生管のたわみが増大することが明らかになった。また,損傷状態によっては,既設管と更生管が点接触することで,局所的に卓越したひずみが発生することがわかった。さらに,地表面偏心荷重の場合,ひずみが卓越する箇所が損傷レベルにより異なることが明らかになった。

    Many breakwaters were damaged by the 2011 off Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami. Especially the breakwater tilted or turned over due to scour at the rubble mound of the breakwater head and a lack of bearing capacity.
     In this study, in order to discuss the stability of the breakwater head, centrifuge model tests to simulate tsunami flow and a numerical analysis using CADMAS-SURF/3D were conducted. As a result, the rubble mound was enormously scoured due to tsunami flow. In addition, it was shown that the area of scour was predicted with the flow velocity distribution in the numerical analysis and the estimation formula for the stability of the rubble mound.
     Moreover, in this study, some preventions against scouring were suggested and the effect of them was velified by model tests. According to results of model tests, in case of covering over the surface of the rubble mound with the units packed gravels and installing the L-shape block at the corner of mound, it was revealed that the prevention was significantly effective although the rubble mound was partially or locally damaged.

    In the construction site of tidal flat made of dredged clayey soil, submerged breakwater and seawall are developed at first and coverd sand layer. If the foundation is firmly, submerged breakwater and seawall are able to construct with direct set of gravel. Foundation is soft condition on the contrary, ground improvements are need. In this study, applicability of geotextile bag filled with dredged clayey soil is examined to construct submerged breakwater on soft ground instead of gravel. Centrifuge model tests and numerical analyses were carried out to construct 3m of height of submerged breakwater using geotextile bag on normally consolidated ground.

     Sand mastics, which have flow characteristics at high temperature, are useful for impermeable joints between impermeable sheets and impermeable bed in gentle slope-type seawall for controlled waste disposal. On the other hand, the strength is also dependent on the temperature. In this study, centrifugal model tests and FE analyses for a gentle slope-type seawall with sand mastics have been carried out in order to investigate the strength characteristics, the influence of the geomaterial characteristics and impermeable sheets on the stability.
     From experimental results, it was revealed that deformation of sand mastics was restrained by a constant overburden pressure. In addition, the strength decreased with the decrease of eccentric load due to a weight of the seawall and was evaluated as 2.5 kN/m2 at 25 degree. From analytical results, it was shown that the stability of the seawall increased in the case of using geomaterials with large internal friction and impermeable sheets with large friction between geomaterials and sheets.

    This report is the investigation of the mechanical property of bending area of waterproof sheet applied in a coastal confined waste disposal site. Waterproof sheet, used in this investigation, was made of linear-low-densitypolyethylene (LLDPE). One dimensional tensile test and hydraulic bursting test were conducted at varied patterns as the number of bending, bending load and bending time. The result of the investigation, bending did not affect the mechanical properties of LLDPE sheet at the range of this test conditions.

    In this study, centrifuge tests and numerical analyses for a movable L-shape breakwater subjected to tsunami were conducted in order to discuss the wave pressure. As a result of tests, it was revealed that the movable L-shape breakwater was stable for tsunami due to the vertical water pressure acting on the upper surface of the breakwater. In addition, the up-lift force was reduced from 30 to 40 % using an impermeable sheet. The level and the distribution of wave pressure in centrifuge tests were in good agreement with the results of numerical analyses. Furthermore in this study, the simple method to estimate the wave pressure was suggested. The suggested estimation method was also in good agreement with the test results.

    In bends of pressure pipelines, thrust forces generated due to internal pressure. Thrust forces act on the bends outward and tend to move the bends. In our previous study, a lightweight thrust restraint using geogrids and an anchor plate was proposed. In addition, the advantage of the proposed thrust restraint was verified by laboratory model tests and full-scale tests and the resistance mechanism was revealed by numerical analyses. Based on the failure mechanism, the maximum lateral resistance was evaluated by solving equations for the force equilibrium. In the present study, the lateral resistance of the proposed method was formulated considering the tensile characteristics of the geogrid. In addition, the calculated results were compared with the experimental results in order to verify the accuracy of the proposed formula. As results, it was revealed that the lateral resistance can be evaluated by the proposed formula. Furthermore the design method for the lightweight thrust restraint was suggested.

    Thrust forces are generated at bend pipes due to internal water pressures. Generally concrete blocks are installed at bends to resist thrust forces. However, it has been reported that concrete blocks were one of the weak spots of the pipe system during earthquake. To improve the pipe system during earthquake, we previously proposed to replace concrete blocks with a lightweight thrust restraint technique using geogrids. In this study, the field test on the lightweight thrust restraint for buried bend pipe was carried out in order to examine the behavior of the bend pipe in the field. From the test results, it was found that the steel bend pipe with the proposed method performed satisfactorily under internal water pressures.

    Thrust force acts on pipe bend due to internal pressure. In previous study, the lightweight thrust restraint with geogrid and anchor plate has proposed and the effect has been proved by conducting lateral loading model tests. In the present study, a series of model tests for changing depth of cover and length of restraint were carried out, and image analysis for the ground surface in the model tests were carried out to discuss the failure mechanism of proposed method. Furthermore, the failure mechanisms in front of the anchor plate were assumed and the additional resistances due to the proposed method were calculated based on the force equilibrium. In addition, in order to examine the accuracy for the proposed formula, calculated values were compared with experimental values. As the results, additional resistance from calculation was corresponding to experimental value.

    Thrust forces can be generated at the bend of a pipeline due to internal water pressure. Commonly, the thrust force is resisted by passive resistance acting on the bend. A concrete block can be installed at the bend when the thrust force is larger than the passive resistance. However, the heavy concrete block can become a weak point during an earthquake, because the concrete block moves largely due to inertia force. Therefore, new methods for thrust restraint are required.
    In this paper, new backfill methods for thrust restraint using geogrids are proposed. The new method comprised geogrids, installed in the passive area to improve the strength of the ground. In addition, gravel was used as backfill material in the passive area of the bend. In order to verify the effect of the proposed methods, lateral loading experiments were carried out using a model pipe with a diameter of 114 mm. The model pipe was backfilled with dry sand. After backfilling, the model pipe was laterally loaded at 0.5 mm/min. using a jack. The lateral resistance and lateral displacement acting on the model pipe were both measured. It was confirmed that the lateral resistance increased when using the proposed methods.
    In addition, numerical analyses (DEM) were performed to assess the resistance mechanism of the proposed methods. It was concluded that the lateral resistance was generated by the tensile force of the geogrid of the vertical side below the rupture surface.

    At a bend in a pressure pipeline, thrust force is generated by the bending angle and internal pressure. Generally a concrete block is installed around a bend. However, the concrete block is a weak point for an earthquake. Therefore, in our previous study, the lightweight thrust restrain using geogrids was suggested. Lateral loading tests, large scale tests and numerical analysis were conducted, and it is verified that the proposed restraint was effective against thrust force. In this study, four shaking table tests were conducted in order to verify the dynamic behavior of the proposed restraint. From the result, in case of the proposed restraint, the movement of the bend was restrained. In addition, using gravel around the geogrid, the lateral movement was extremely small.

    本論では,ジオシンセティクスを活用したスラスト防護工法の有効性を明らかにするため,∅90の模型パイプを対象に,乾燥砂地盤内で横引き実験を行い,その抵抗力について検討した.その結果,パイプの後方にジオグリッドを鉛直方向に設置する工法が,スラスト防護工法として極めて有効であるこが明らかになった.さらに,そのメカニズムについてDEM解析から検討を加えた.

    近年,地球温暖化に起因する気候変動や極端気象による各種災害が頻発している.また,地震による大規模被害も多く生じており,考慮すべき地震動を含め,降雨を考慮したため池堤体の耐震性を検討する必要があるものと考えられる.本研究では降雨あるいは地震を再現し,先行する事象・外力による損傷レベルによる最終的な被害様相の違いを確認するため,典型的なため池堤体模型を用いた降雨・振動実験を実施した.実験では,土槽内に同一断面のため池堤体を2 ケース作製し,「先行降雨+地震」,および「先行地震+ 降雨」のケースで振動実験を実施した.一連の実験から,1)降雨前の振動台実験において,盛土上流側の加速度応答が大幅に増幅された.2)降雨と震動台実験の順序の違いにより,ため池堤体の残留変形が異なることを確認した.これは,降雨浸透過程の違いによるものであり,堤体内の飽和度の変化がため池堤体の耐震性と残留変形に及ぼす影響が明らかであることが示唆された.In Tokyo, inland floods occupy about 80 percent of the economic damages caused by floods. Thus, a countermeasure to inland floods is an important issue. In this study, the factors contributing to inland floods in Tokyo are analyzed with the discrimination analysis using the rainfall data derived from X-band multi-parameter radar and the grid data of national land information. The results showed that the most important factor contributing to the occurrence of inland floods in Tokyo is the maximum hourly rainfall. When hourly rainfall exceeds 50 mm, inland floods tend to occur. The area ratio of depressed ground and buildings also contribute to the occurrence of inland floods. On the other hand, gradient of the topography has negative contribution.

    近年のため池改修では,ベントナイト系遮水シート(GCL)を用いて改修する事例が増えている.既 往の研究で GCL および従来の前刃金工法を用いた堤体を対象とした実大規模震動実験で,両者の耐震 性が検証された.実際の施工では,GCL を継ぎ足す場合に重ね合わせ部が設けられる.また,階段状 のみならず直線状に設置される例も見られる.しかしながら,GCL 重ね合わせ部や設置方法の違いが 堤体の安定性におよぼす影響は明らかでない.そこで本研究では,重ね合わせ部および直線状に設置 された GCL を有する堤高 3 m の堤体を対象に震動実験を行い,既往研究の連続かつ階段状に設置され た GCL を有する堤体との比較検討を行った.実験結果から,レベル2 地震動により,重ね合わせ部の 相対変位は発生しないことが明らかになった.さらに,クラック発生状況および堤体の変形状況から, 直線状よりも階段状に設置した堤体の方が耐震性が高いことが明らかになった.Recent years, Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) have been used to repair deteriorated small earth dams as impermeable materials. In a past study, the seismic performance of the embankment, in which a continuous GCL was installed in a stairs shape was verified. When retrofitting a embankment with GCL, GCL panel overlap can be introduced. In addition to a stairs shape, GCLs are used in a straight shape. However, the effects of GCL panel overlap and difference of installation methods on the seismic performance of the embankments remain unclear. In this study, full-scale shaking table tests were performed for 3 m embankment models with GCLs installed in a stairs shape and a straight shape, which were compared with the embankment with a continuous GCL in the past study. As a result, it was indicated that no change in GCL overlap length occurred due to shear displacement associated with Level2 shaking. Moreover, comparing the damage survey of embankments, it was revealed that the seismic performance of the straight shape is lower than that of the stairs shape.

    本研究は廃止するため池を治水施設として利用する方法を確立するため,土石流がため池内に流入した際の挙動ならびに堤体への衝突荷重を明らかにするとともに堤体の安定性評価と補強を検討するものである. 令和3年度には,ため池内に土石流が流入した場合の基本的な挙動やため池堤体に作用する衝突荷重について検討することを目的に土石流実験を実施した. 土石流実験には,幅300mm,流下斜面長約2000mm,傾斜角45°のアクリル製水路を用いた.水路斜面部には,土石流の流入速度を測定するため,レーザー変位計を3台設置した.また,本年度の主目的である衝撃荷重を測定するため,堤体模型を直壁として,3台の荷重計を設置した.実験は土石流を模擬した砕石(平均粒径5mm)やセラミックビーズ(3mm~30mm)を上部から流下させ,下流の貯水状態を模擬した堤体模型に衝突させた.その際,堤体模型への衝突荷重を計測するとともに,土石流の挙動を明らかにするため,高速度カメラによる撮影を行った.実験条件としては,貯留水による影響を考慮するため,貯水無し,水位20,50,100,150mmに変化させたほか,斜面下端からの距離や流下速度を変えたケースを実施した. 実験の結果,貯水された場合,土石流は,流入後に急激な水位変動を引き起こし,貯水無しの実験で得られた堤体への衝突荷重よりも大きかった.当初期待した貯留水によって,堤体に作用する荷重が低減する効果は確認できなかった.また,貯水が無い場合の荷重は,衝突直後からわずかにではあるが増加し,後から押し寄せる土石流の衝突荷重が前方にまで伝播することが確認された.一方,堤体が無い条件では,低い水位でも土石流の到達距離が短くなる傾向があり,貯水による土石流の減勢効果を確認できた.

  • 老朽開水路内に配管される圧力パイプラインの力学挙動の解明と耐震設計手法の確立

    既設開水路内に管路を敷設する開水路内配管工法の確立を目標に,老朽化した開水路内に設置された管路屈曲部を対象にスラスト力を模擬した水平力を負荷する実験を実施してきた.令和2年度に実施した模型実験では,載荷中に模型管が軸方向に回転し,正確に水平抵抗力が計測できていないことが明らかとなった.そこで,令和3年度には,載荷装置を改良し,同条件での実験を実施した.概ね前年度と同様の結論を得たが,水路底板と水路壁が固定された実験条件では,管と開水路模型が一体となり挙動する様子が観察され,前年度と異なる新たな知見を得た.また,管と水路壁の間の距離を変えた条件での実験ケースについて,より詳細な検討を行い,本研究で実施された埋設条件では,距離と抵抗力が概ね線形で近似できることを示すとともに,画像解析を通して,管および水路壁周辺地盤の変形挙動ならびに抵抗力発揮メカニズムを解明した.さらに,既設開水路内に2本の管路が敷設される二条配管時の力学挙動を解明するため,2本の模型管に定荷重を負荷した載荷実験に着手し,現在までに基本ケースの実験を終了した. 上記のスラスト力を受ける管路屈曲部の力学挙動の検討に加え,管底側部の応力集中の緩和を目的としたEPS基礎を提案し,その有効性についても実験的に検証してきた.令和2年度に実施した模型実験では,模型管の外径が165mmと小さく,一部のEPS基礎では,応力集中を抑制する効果が確認できなかった.そこで令和3年度には,模型管の外径を313mmとし,地盤の相対密度を前年度の30%から60%に変更することで,より実際に近い埋設条件を再現した.実験結果よりEPS基礎を用いた全てのケースで管底側部の応力集中を抑制する効果が確認された.

  • Seismic behavior of small earth dams under combined effects of heavy rainfall and earthquakes and verification of earthquake resistant countermeasures

    These days, heavy rain events are frequent, and there are growing concerns for combined disasters; earthquakes and heavy rains occur at close intervals. In this study, model tests and water-level-measurements were conducted to clarify the rainfall infiltration characteristics of earth dam embankments. Moreover, centrifuge model tests and numerical analyses were conducted to clarify the behavior of the embankments subjected to the combined effects of earthquakes and heavy rains, and to propose countermeasures and verify their effectiveness. The results show that the water level in the embankment rises greatly during heavy rainfall and that the preceding rainfall affects the deformation of the embankment during earthquakes. On the other hand, the cracks caused by the preceding earthquake promote rainfall infiltration and affect the erosion. In addition, the reinforcement of the embankment toe with filter units was effective in suppressing the deformation of the embankment.

    There are many cases in which embankments are destroyed caused by erosion or scour due to a heavy rainfall and a huge tsunami. In this study, new countermeasures against erosion and scour for small earth dams and coastal dykes have been proposed, and the possibilities of disaster reduction by promoting erosion of a part of ground has been verified by various experiments. As a result, erosion could be promoted by replacing a part of ground to lightweight materials. The depression formed by promoting erosion could effectively reduce horizontal flow velocity. Moreover, a model experiment on overtopping erosion of a small earth dam with the different crest height has showed that the erosion of the slope complicatedly progresses by the existence of other erosion, stones and roots. Therefore, it is impossible to control erosion of slope by only setting ups and down of crest.

    Judging from the damage cases in the Great East Japan Earthquake or past large earthquakes, bends of buried pipelines tend to be weak points during earthquakes. Generally, heavy concrete blocks have been used as a thrust restraint, whereas a more lightweight thrust restraint is required to improve the seismic resistance of pipeline. In this study, various type model experiments have been conducted in order to reveal mechanical behavior of buried bends against lateral movement and establish the new method in which gravel and geogrid are used. As a result, the new thrust restraint has been verified to be effective in liquefied ground and the estimation method for the lateral resistance by the new method has been proposed.

    In the Great East Japan Earthquake, a massive tsunami caused severe damage to coastal structures. It has been reported from field surveys that a local scour at the ground behind coastal dikes was one of causes to a dike failure. Since huge earthquakes are expected in recent future, it is essential to reveal scour process and to suppose effective countermeasures. In this study, flume experiments and vertical jet flow experiments have been conducted to clarify effects of liquefaction on scour characteristics and to verify the effects of the proposed countermeasures. In addition to the model tests, simple equations have been suggested to predict a scour profile.
