  • 学部留学生が抱える『留学生問題』とは何か―信州大学経済学部留学生・日本人学生チューター・学部教員・学部職員から見た『留学生問題』―

    本研究では，様々な問題を含む「留学生問題」全体に目を向け，その実相と構造を把握することを目的とし，インタビュー調査とアンケート調査を行った。調査対象者は信州大学経済学部の留学生，日本人学生チューター，教員，職員である。留学生だけでなく大学学部内で留学生と関わる人々を対象とすることで，それぞれの立場での「留学生問題」認識を多面的に示すことを試みた。調査では，横田・白（2004）のあげる留学生問題の６つの領域に関して，その問題度と具体的な問題の表れについて把握し，その要因と領域間の関係性を探った。

    The purpose of this paper is to explore how the intervention from teacher and tutor in writing center effect on the writing of international students and how difference of reader is reflected in it. We also considered how writing class and writing center should work together to take advantages of own strengths. There are three research questions: RQ1 how do learners think about having their writing read by others, RQ2 how did learners have meaning in having their writing read by teacher, peers, and tutors, RQ3 how did their writing change through the process of writing class and writing session in the writing center. Research materials include questionaries for students, task in the writing class （parts of short essay）, draft of short essay before using writing center, and final draft of short essay. Based on the results of analysis, we indicated that the basic knowledge and rules for academic writing can be taught in the classroom and careful feedback based on writer’s intention can be given at writing center. We also pointed out that it is possible to teach meaning of being read in classroom to students who do not see any meaning in having their writing read by others, and encourage them to use the writing center.

    The purpose of this paper is to explore the advantages of non-native Japanese language teachers based on differences of the teaching environment. The environments were divided according to whether teachers and learners have same language and cultural background. We carried out a review of research papers on this topic, and analyzed interview data from non-native teachers to create a framework of advantages of non-native teachers. We also analyzed how advantages differ depending on the teaching environment and whether there is any commonality, based on our framework. Finally, we proposed ways of using these advantages for Japanese language teacher training. It was found from the results that "A-1. Having the same mother language or common language" and "B-1. Sharing the same cultural background" were factors that occurred in overseas environments and "B-3. Experience as international student or resident in Japan" was a prominent factor in Japan. Common factors were "A-2. Japanese is not mother language" and "B-2. Experiences as a Japanese language learner". From these results, we proposed three issues that should be implemented in Japanese language teacher training; effective use of ‘mediating language’, skills and knowledge for language comparison, and being conscious of the advantages of non-native teachers.

  • 日本語非母語話者の特性をふまえた日本語教師養成プログラム構築のための基礎研究

    2020年度に行ったパイロット調査の結果等にもとづき、本年度は研究代表者・分担者（計4名）で、4つの課題を分担して実施し、下記のような実績を得た。 課題：①日本国内で教える非日本語母語話者教師の日本語学習・教育観、②非母語話者の養成プログラム修了生の教育現場での経験、困難点の把握と養成プログラムの教育内容の再考、③養成プログラムにおける「実習」をはじめとした実践的な学びのあり方、④教師の養成・研修に関する先行研究の検討と分析 実績：①非母語話者教師4名を対象に、インタビュー調査を実施した。詳細な分析は2022年度を予定しているが、日本語教育を行なっているのが海外（主に、教師と母語を同じとする学習者を対象に行う日本語教育）なのか日本国内なのかでは、特に非母語話者教師として感じている困難点を中心に、異なる特徴があるように見受けられる。②中国の高校で日本語教育を行なっている非母語話者教師１名に対しインタビュー調査を実施し、比較のために、海外の大学で教える母語話者教師1名にも同様のインタビュー調査を行った。③実習にあたる科目の履修者の許可を得て、データの収集に着手した。具体的には、他の履修生の模擬授業及び実習に対する評価や、本人による実習の振り返りをデータとして収集した。④第二言語教育（英語）の教師の能力育成に関する先行研究を整理し、日本語教師養成の指針（文化庁）に表れる「教師」や「教師の成長観」について、また養成段階で「成長する教師」の基礎をどう築くか等考察した。内容については、The Hawai’i Association of Teachers of Japaneseの「Benkyo kai（Teacher huddle）」で発表した（2022年2月19日）。

  • An Experimental Study of Cultivation of Japanese Language Skills to Chinese Government Official in the North of China(Huabei) under Japanese Occupation

    This research is intended as an investigation and consideration of an actual condition about the cultivation of Japanese language skills, focusing on the Japanese certification examination, to the Chinese government official in the North of China(Huabei) under the Japanese occupation from 1937 to 1945. An education at SHINMIN institute or study at Japan etc. cultivated higher officials. To officials of provinces and cities, there were measurers which they can study Japanese language while they continued working. These measures were the Japanese training session, the Japanese class and a Japanese certification examination with an incentive. About an examination, it would appear that it did not carry out in all parts of Huabei, and it was given in the Beijing and the Qingdao.
