- This study aims to reveal issues on the introduction of Toll charging policy for improving roadside environment by route choice behavior of container trailer trucks. This study is based on data from an OD (origin-destination) survey to container tucking companies. - This study aims to reveal issues on route management of container trailer trucks for improving roadside environment in the Hanshin Coastal Area. This study is based on data from an OD (origin-destination) and questionnaire survey to container trucking companies. In this study, we clarified the changes of the trucking company attitudes to diverting from inland routes to coastal routes by raising toll of inland mutes or reducing the toll of coastal routes. - This study aims to reveal factors affecting shipper's port choice behavior and the characteristic of domestic transportation patterns of foreign container cargo. The results are based on the findings of questionnaire survey to shippers, carried out by authors. We first showed main factors of the port choice for shippers and the advantages of Kobe, Osaka and local ports by applying correspondence analysis. Then we developed the port choice behavior models based on logit model. - This study aims to reveal the characteristic of drivers who enter the central city area via toll road The results are based on the findings of questionnaire survey to drivers, carried out by authors. We first classified the respondents into two groups, whose travel behavior is and is not affected by toll fees. Then we showed the difference of changes by two groups in number of total trips and car trips to the city center in cases of raising and decreasing the level of toll fees, and clarified these groups' attributes by employing segmentation analysis. - 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 基盤研究(C), 神戸大学, 01 Apr. 2021 - 31 Mar. 2024鉄道コンテナの貨物需要から貨物車交通の需要を推計するシステムの開発今年度は、大阪貨物ターミナル駅を拠点駅とする鉄道コンテナ集配トラックを対象として、デジタル式運行記録計やドライバーの手書きなどよって記録された複数の運行データを包括した統合データを作成した。その上で、2018年11月12日から30日の間の土・日曜日と、取り扱われるコンテナ個数の少ない日を除外した14日間において、12ftコンテナだけを取り扱っている104運行について分析を行った。その結果、132箇所の訪問荷主先に、延べ547個の12ftコンテナが集配送されていた。また、積みと卸しの両方を行っている訪問荷主先において訪問回数と取扱個数が多いこと、走行時間が総運行時間の46%程度であること、訪問荷主先では、積作業時間、卸作業時間、待機時間が主に発生していることなどを把握することができた。 その一方で、既存ソフトウェアで提供されているVRPソルバーを、鉄道コンテナ集配トラックの配車配送問題に援用する方法を検討した。その結果、貨物駅と訪問荷主先との間でコンテナが集配送されている状況や、コンテナ・ラウンドユース輸送が行われている状況を反映した計算結果を得ることができた。 その上で、11月12日の運行について、VRPソルバーを用いた運行シミュレーションの結果と実態とを比較した。その結果、①運行シミュレーションでは、訪問先で取り扱われるコンテナ個数に関係なく、できるだけ積載量の大きなトラックで、近接する訪問荷主先を巡回しているのに対し、実態では、積載量の大きなトラックで、取り扱う個数の多い訪問荷主先のコンテナを、1回の訪問で運ぼうとする傾向がみられることや、②コンテナ・ラウンドユース輸送において、運行シミュレーションでは、最も近接している訪問荷主先同士がマッチングされるのに対し、実態では、取り扱われるコンテナの個数が一致する訪問荷主先同士がマッチングされる傾向にあることが示せた。

First, I clarified functions that are necessary for carrying out container round use transportation and classified its transportation systems into four types by container trailer truck operations. Second, I considered effects of container round use and issues on introducing it by analyzing profit and loss of each member who constitutes its system. Furthermore, issues when domestic freight transportation is adopted in the reusing system of empty containers were showed.Competitive research funding

Using Cooperative Game Theory, in which truck companies are assumed to be players, this study shows the method for allocating the profit to truck companies produced by the formation of the grand coalition, and also that for calculating subsidies and cost shared among them in order to realize the coalition, considering their contribution to the improvement of the environment.Competitive research funding
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists (B), Kobe University, 2007 - 2008, Principal investigator空コンテナの調達・返却施設を内陸部に設置する方策では、輸入施設で空となったコンテナを一旦港湾まで返却せずに、輸出施設で利用することが可能となる。本研究では、空コンテナの総輸送距離を最小化する整数問題として、本施策の利用コンテナ個数を算出することで、本方策が、空コンテナの輸送距離を縮減するだけでなく、港湾に出入りする、あるいは、都市域を通過するトラック台数を減少する効果をもつことを示した。Competitive research funding
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Kobe University, 2005 - 2006This study aims to reveal the basic characteristics of delivery activities based on probe date which were gathered by a set of probe equipment (comprising GPS and data logger) mounted to trucks. With these probe data, we formulated mathematical models to lay out delivery plans for trucks under environmental restrictions. Then some delivery plans for different trucks were proposed and evaluated from the viewpoints of both reduction in truck operation cost and improvement of urban environment. The main findings of this study are summarized as follows: First, we built mathematical models for deciding optimum departure time to make the designated delivery time and choosing optimum delivery route by considering the uncertainty of travel time and loading/unloading time obtained based on probe data. We also deducted some factors influencing route choice by trucks on road networks and developed disaggregate route choice models using revealed factors as explanatory variables. Second, we made two types of delivery plans for different trucks (home delivery service trucks and freight container trailer trucks). 1) We proposed allocation plans of distribution centers for home delivery trucks under the cargo OD demand, and evaluated them from improvement of efficiency of truck delivery service as well as reduction in negative environmental impacts. 2) We estimated the effects of toll policy on changing trucks' (trailer trucks) running routes from highways in urban area, environmentally vulnerable area, to expressway in coastal area to improve roadside environment, using our route choice models.Competitive research funding
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2003 - 2004Demand Estimation of Parking Spaces for Loading and Unloading by Delivery Vehicles and Evaluation of Their Lovation Plans in CBDThis study aims to establish a method of estimating the demand of parking spaces for loading and unloading by delivery vehicles in CBD and of developing and evaluating their location plans. The main findings of the study are the followings : (1)First, we chose four areas of CBD in our study and conducted surveys in the four areas to reveal inflow and outflow of goods in business establishments and actual situation of loading and unloading activities by delivery vehicles. (2)We proposed the method of estimating the demand of parking spaces by using the next equation. P=Σ__i(F_i×U_i)×C×T/R P : Demand of parking spaces for loading and unloading (unit : vehicle) F_i : Floor space of business type i (m^2) U_i : The number of parcels handled in business type i (number/m^2) C : The number of vehicles needed for delivering per parcel (vehicle/number) T : Peak ratio of delivery vehicles of the day R : Turnover of vehicle (number/hour) (3)The demand estimation could be obtain through calculating the above indices in the equation which come from the surveys. We estimated the number of delivery vehicles in survey areas by using the indices and verified the compatibility of the estimation results to actual number of delivery vehicles observed. (4)On the basis of the estimated demand of parking spaces, we proposed the method of developing their location plans by using P-median problem and P-center Problem, and also of evaluating them from viewpoints of improving the efficiency in loading and unloading activities, and reducing the quantity of illegally parked cars. Finally, we applied the method in the study areas and verified its usefulness.
- 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 若手研究(B), 神戸商船大学, 2001 - 2002選択要因間の交互作用を考慮した外貿コンテナ国内フィーダー輸送手段選択モデルの開発荷主企業を対象に実施した輸出入コンテナ貨物の国内輸送に関する実態調査結果から、以下の成果が得られた。 1.荷主企業が国内港湾を選択する際に重視する項目としては、輸出入ともに「港までの国内輸送費の安さ」と「港の船舶寄港頻度」であった。さらに輸入では、これら項目に加えて、「内陸とのアクセス道」と「リードタイムが確実」が重視されていた。 2.非集計ロジットモデルを適用した荷主企業の国内港湾選択モデルを構築した結果、港湾選択要因として、輸出入ともに、荷主企業との距離が近い港湾が選択されている傾向があり、輸出に比べ輸入においてその傾向は強くなっていることがわかった。またその一方で、輸出入における貿易相手国が北米または欧州の国の場合や、輸出における平均貨物ロットサイズがコンテナ1本に満たないLCL貨物の場合には、神戸港の選択効用が高まる様子が伺えた。 3.外貿コンテナ貨物の国内端末輸送を4つのパターンに分類した結果、輸出では、出荷施設、バンニング施設がともに港頭地区内に立地するパターン1が、輸入では、最終荷受け施設、デバンニング施設がともに内陸部内に立地するパターン3の割合が最も高くなっていることがわかった。また輸出入ともに、内航フィーダーを利用した輸送形態をとる荷主企業が約1割みられ、荷主企業と利用港湾との距離が150km以上の際に多くなっていた。 今後は、国内端末輸送パターンの選択モデルと、港湾選択モデルを組み合わせることによって、荷主企業の利用港湾と国内端末輸送パターンの選択構造を探っていきたい。

It includes the ports of Kobe and Osaka, and Hanshin industrial area, which stretches along the Osaka Bay coastline. As a result, a tremendous amount of freight vehicle traffic is concentrated in this area. Nitrogen oxide (NOx) and suspended particulate matter (SPM) discharged from large trucks are a serious environment problem, especially along arterial roads. This study aims to estimate and evaluate the effects of TDM (Transportation Demand Management) measures for trucks on the improvement of environment along major roads. Main contents of this study are the followings. a) Analysis of traffic flow pattern of trucks in Hanshin coastal area and their negative impacts on environment. b) Analysis of attitude to the introduction of TDM measures for trucks on the basis of the findings of opinion survey to business establishments. c) Estimation and evaluation of the effects of specific TDM measures, especially tax (including fuel tax, carbon tax) for reducing car traffic, and road pricing for diverting truck traffic from environmentally vulnerable area. d) Development of information systems using GPS (Global Positioning System) to make fleet operation and management more efficient, and examination of their effectiveness by field experiments. e) Examination of the possibilities of introduction of a specific TDM measure (consolidated freight transportation system) in the Hanshin area through its demonstration project.
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Kobe University of Mercantile Marine, 1999 - 2000Reconstruction Process of Damaged Buildings in Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and Analysis of Effects of Measures for Supporting Reconstruction in Disaster AreaWe have conducted surveys on the removal and reconstruction of collapsed buildings in a disaster area of Kobe city for 5 years after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and also questionnaire surveys to affected people on the reconstruction of their damaged houses and shops. We first showed the progress of reconstruction of damaged buildings during 5 years and analyzed Main factors that had caused delays in the reconstruction. Then the changes in living environment caused by the reconstruction work were assessed based on residents opinions and the effects of recovery polices by local government on the progress of reconstruction were examined. Finally some lessons were referred for future disaster prevention plans from the experiment of this earthquake. The main findings of the study are as follows. 1) We showed time and space distributions of reconstructed buildlings in the whole study area and pointed the town blocks that showed delays in the reconstruction. 2) Factors causing delays in the reconstruction were shown : small housing lots and narrow roads adjacent to such lots shortage of funds for the reconstruction difficulties in obtaining financial supports complicated application procedures for the supports and failure in reaching social agreement to reconstruction project etc. 3) The whole study area consists of three districts where different recovery policies were applied. The effects of those policies were examined through analysis of differences in the progress of reconstruction among those three districts. 4) A large number of buildings have been rebuilt into prefabricated and taller structures. There are still many vacant lots left where buildings have not been reconstructed. We revealed residents evaluation on changes in living environment caused by the reconstruction work. 5) It takes long period and costs huge effort to reconstruct disaster area after the earthquake. This means the necessity of finding out dangerous districts with concentration of small, old and wooden structures in usual time and implementing some measures to make such districts safer before the disaster.
