Our surveys in various regions in Japan revealed new trends of the foreign labor force in manufacturing industry and agriculture, mainly for technical intern trainees and Nikkei foreigners. In addition, it is essential that such restructuring of the foreign labor force be understood with the social context of sending state and the change in Japan's presence, so we conducted surveys in the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Brazil.

In this research, it was clarified how general union movements serve as a connection between social movements conducted by various people through the findings from the results of questionnaires and interview surveys with members of the general unions participating in Community Union National Network. The results of the research have been compiled and published in Community Union labor movements to form a society (MOON, Jeong sil,Shoraisha, 2019).

We have conducted the questionnaire survey as well as face-to-face interview to the 74 community-based labor unions which belong to the "Community Union National Network", in 35 prefectures with the total membership of around 15,000. The findings from the questionnaire survey (8.1% collection rate) shows that the community-based labor unions are essential for the "survival" of the workers in unstable employment having little safety net. Also, the analysis of the activities of labor unions showed the difference in the objectives and expectations for union activities depending on generation and gender of the respondents. As a conclusion, the study clarified the possibility of the union activities creating new "public space" as well as the issues surrounding the labor union movement.

Urban underclass in Japan are excluded from citizenship, recruited to the underclass labor market, and exposed to pressures leading to homelessness. It's the mode of existence of the urban underclass. Through our research into homeless people, We found that homeless people find the survival strategies and construct self identity against the social exclusion. Furthermore, we research on female worker at hot spring hotels and make clear their instable life. They are included to urban underclass.
