  当該年度は、コロナウイルス問題のために、スイスでの現地調査を実施することができなかった。したがって、入手済みの資料、web上のデータベース等で公開されている資料、郵送によって入手しえた資料をもとに研究を実施した。結果として、研究の進展という点では一定の制限を受けたが、入手した資料に基づく個別の研究、および研究プロジェクトの基本的枠組みを構築するという観点から見れば、十分な実績を上げることができた。 本研究プロジェクトの目的は、ヨーロッパ全体ににとってのトポス（=意味を帯びた空間）としてのアルプスに関する表象の産出と、その再領土化の試み（特にナチス時代のドイツにおける山岳イメージとその映画化）との絶えざる葛藤の過程を、主としてスイスに定位して、文学作品、映画、絵画といった文化的諸現象から辿ることである。プロジェクトのメンバーは、それぞれが担当するテーマに関する研究を推進するとともに、Zoom等を利用して随時、研究情報の交換や進捗状況の報告を行った。2021年3月と2021年12月に、全メンバーが参加する研究会をオンラインで開催し、研究成果を共有するともに、今後の展開のためのディスカッションを行った。 そこでの報告を相互に関連付けることで、ボドマー、ブライティンガー、ゲーテらによる18世紀の汎ヨーロッパ的性格を帯びたアルプス表象の生成から、ナチス時代のドイツ山岳映画における「危険とその〈男らしい〉克服」というドイツ的意味づけを経て、1930年代後半のスイスの演劇や文化運動における「多言語・多文化の空間としてのアルプス」という対抗的表象の生成という、アルプス表象の大きな歴史的流れを確認することができた。これは「表象の政治」という視点からアルプス表象を一貫して理解するための枠組みが形成され、メンバー間で共有されたことを意味する。

  本研究の目的は、ゲーテ以降の「ファウスト」文学の系譜に即し、ヨーロッパで神がいかに死んだかを明らかにすることにある。 取り上げられたテーマは以下のものである。①ゲーテ時代のドイツ産業革命とそれに伴う人間の大地からの疎外（非人間化）はいかにして起きたか（担当高橋）、②リヒテンベルクとゲーテ（担当宮田）、③ヴィーラントとゲーテ（担当宮田）、④ニーチェと神の死（担当細見）、⑤トーマス・マン『ファウストゥス博士』と神の死（担当高橋）、⑥デュレンマットの『ファウスト』（担当増本）。 ２ヵ月に一度、オンラインで１名が発表を行い、他の３名がそれについて論評を加えるという形で実質豊かな研究を行った。折しもコロナ禍とロシアのウクライナ侵攻が起き、本研究は、現代社会では神の死のみならず人間の死がいかに起きるかを検証する場になった。リヒテンベルクやヴィーラントの時代には「神の死」はまだほとんど意識されていなかった。だがリヒテンベルクやヴィーラントと同時代であるゲーテは、彼らよりも強い危機意識を持っていた。その危機意識は産業革命の波がドイツにも押し寄せてくるとともに、より強められた。彼はさらに、キリスト教的な神、単に道徳的なお説教を垂れるだけの神では危機の時代に対応できないと見ていた。ゲーテの予感は的中し、ゲーテの死の50年後、ニーチェは、神はすでに死んだ、と看破した。生を肯定し、生の力を賛美するニーチェからすれば、生を否定するキリスト教は衰微して当然である、ところがキリスト教的な神が死んでみると、そこに新しい神は存在せず、後に残されたのは空白の虚無であることが明らかになった。 その虚無の時代をいかに生きるか。それがニーチェ以降の人々に課せられた大きな課題だった。その課題と果敢に立ち向かい、トーマス・マンは『ファウストゥス博士』を書き、デュレンマットはゲーテの『ファウスト』を演出し上演した。

  Switzerland in the Nazi era was under the influence of two cultural policies. One is the co-ordination policy by the Nazis. This has also brought cultural pressure to Switzerland. The other is Switzerland's unique cultural policy "spiritual national defense", which was created in opposition to Nazis’ cultural policy. This aimed to emphasize the cultural differences between Germany and Switzerland. The Zurich theater was initially the object of criticism for "spiritual national defense" However, this theater reinterpreted the framework of "spiritual national defense" from the perspective of "unity in diversity" in Switzerland since the 1938-39 season, gave the performance of the parable plays, in order to adapt to "spiritual national defense" and, at the same time, to produce a dramaturgy to criticize the Nazis.

  This study answers the question: Why the Zurich playhouse Switzerland in the era of the Nazis (1933-1945) could continue to play the dramas, which were burnt in Germany, with the exile artist. The key concept is a Swiss-specific cultural movement called "spiritual defense." In the early stages the movement had a xenophobic nature, but around 1939 it highlighted the concept of "unity in diversity" as the “heart” of the Swiss. The logic of the concept that includes various cultural trends in the framework of diversity has enabled the performance and acceptance of exile literature.
