- We proposed a new retrofitting element to externally retrofit existing concrete buildings. The proposed element consists of a monolithic steel column and steel beams at each story level, and looks like a tree. Three retrofitted column specimens and four indirect connection specimens were tested. - Sixteen shear-type friction dampers were made and tested under cyclical loading to investigate the effect of the lap gap on the frictional resistance of the damper. The test results have indicated that the frictional resistance of a shear-type friction damper depends not only upon the tensile force by the high-strength bolts that clamp the slipping steel plate but also strongly upon the lap gap. Based on the experimental results, a formula for assessing the effect of the lap gaps on the frictional resistance of the damper was developed. - 石炭灰を大量混合したRC梁の曲げせん断挙動に関する実験的研究本研究は,石炭灰を大量に混合した鉄筋コンクリート部材の終局挙動を調べることを目的として,石炭灰の一種であるフライアッシュをセメントに対して外割で大量混合した鉄筋コンクリート梁の終局曲げせん断性状や変形能について実験的に検討を行った。その結果,単位体積あたりの配合量455kg/m^3までの籠囲では,フライアッシュの混合量の増加に伴い,梁のせん断耐力および変形能は大きくなること,フライアッシュの大量混合でせん断スパン比1.0の短い梁にも十分な変形能をもたらせること,などが明らかになった。日本コンクリート工学協会, Jul. 2008, コンクリート工学年次論文集, Vol.30, No.3, pp.247-252(3) (3), 247 - 252, Japanese[Refereed]Scientific journal
- フライアッシュを外割混合したコンクリートの圧縮応力-ひずみ関係のモデル化本研究は,フライアッシュを外割混合した鉄筋コンクリート部材の終局曲げ性状およびせん断性状を評価するのに必要不可欠な,コンクリートの圧縮応力-ひずみ関係のモデル化を行うことを目的とする。単位セメント量および単位水量一定の条件下では,フライアッシュ外割混合量の増加に伴い,コンクリートの圧縮強度および圧縮強度時ひずみは大きくなる傾向が見られた。また,フライアッシシュを外割混合したコンクリートの応力-ひずみ関係の定式化を行い,実験結果との比較を通じて,提案式は実験結果を精度よく評価できることを明らかにした。日本コンクリート工学協会, Jul. 2008, コンクリート工学年次論文集, Vol.30, No.3, pp.85-90(3) (3), 85 - 90, Japanese[Refereed]Scientific journal
- 複曲率曲げを受ける角形CFT 柱の偏心圧縮実験Eccentrically compression tests of forty-three square concrete-filled tubular (CFT) columns were tested under double curvature deformation to investigate applicability and validity of current design formula for CFT slender and middle-length columns. Experimental results have indicated that the current design formula could predict flexural strength of slender CFT columns fairly well. - 円形鋼管で横拘束された高強度鉄筋コンクリート柱の履歴挙動に関する研究円形銅管で横拘束された高強度鉄筋コンクリート(RC)柱について,一定軸力下における繰り返し曲げせん断実験を行った結果,高強度材料を用いた円形RC柱を鋼管で横拘束すれば,高軸力下における柱に十分な変形能力を持たせることができるだけではなく,柱の残留部材角を小さく抑えられることが明らかになった。また,円形鋼管の拘束効果,加力スタブによる付加拘束効果,および鉄筋の付着すべりの影響を考慮に入れた柱の水平挙動に関する解析を行い,実験結果との比較により,解析手法の妥当性を検証した。日本コンクリート工学協会, Jul. 2007, コンクリート工学年次論文集, Vol.29, No.3(3) (3), 547 - 552, Japanese[Refereed]Scientific journal

- A new seismic retrofitting method for existing R/C buildings by using a circular hollow section (CHS) bracing is proposed. In the proposed method, a reinforcing frame composed of an H-section peripheral frame and pin-ended CHS bracings is placed on the outer surface of an R/C frame and connected to the R/C with mechanical anchors and high strength mortar. Experimental studies were carried out to evaluate the reinforcing effect. A single tube brace and a tube-in-tube brace, which is restrained not to buckle by the outer tube, are applied as a reinforcing brace. For comparison, H-section braces are also applied to proposed and conventional method. All the specimens are 1/3-scale models for one story-one bay substructure frame of an R/C building. In the experiment, the horizontal shear loads were cyclically applied to specimens under a constant vertical load. Through the experimental results and analytical results, an effectiveness of the proposed method is discussed. - 30年間供用された既存RC造建築物の現場載荷実験Performance of a deteriorated existing reinforced concrete (RC) building, which had been on service since 1970, was investigated. The building that was designed based on the old AIJ Standard for Structural Calculation of Reinforced Concrete Structures (AIJ,1962) was planed to be deconstructed and removed. Since authors had a chance to carry field experiments on the building before deconstruction, field-loading test on the portal frame was performed to evaluate its structural performance. Prior to the loading test, concrete core specimens were taken and used for compression test and also measurement of carbonation. Then, ultimate behavior as well as elastic behavior of the portal frame was examined through the horizontal loading tests. - In AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan) design formula for slender composite columns, modified method of the superposed strength of a column section is adopted by considering the effect of additional bending moment (Pδ moment). In a previous paper, with respect to the ultimate strength of concrete filled steel tubular columns, we proposed the end moment (_cM_u)-axial force (_cM_u) interaction relations of concrete columns on the basis of an analytical results. The equation for the _cM_u-_cN_u relations, however, is considerably complicated. - The objectives is to study the strength and behavior of concrete filled steel circular tubular columns subjected to constant compressive load and repeated bending. As the test parameter, diameter-thickness ratio of steel tube, axial load ratio on a column and existence of filled concrete are selected. Total forty concrete filled steel tubular columns are tested. From the test results, inelastic behavior, maximum strength, energy dissipation capacity and deformation capacity are discussed. - DAMAGE TO REINFORCED SPUN CONCRETE PILE AND ITS MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE HYOGOKEN-NANBU EARTHQUAKE 1995Pre-cast reinforced concrete piles used in the foundation of the building that had been damaged by the Hyogoken-nanbu Earthquake were examined. The piles were excavated from the site, and then tested under bending and/or shear loads to evaluate their structural perfomance. The piles had many cracks and damage observed when they were excavated. Some of the cracks might be attribute to the shock wave when the piles were placed by driving hummer, but some seemed to be caused by the earthquake. In this study, structural behavior of a damaged pile is experimentally examined. A static analysis of a pile is also carried considering geologic layer of the site. Then, the cause of the cracks and damage observed is discussed through the static analysis as well as the experimental results so obtained.Architectural Institute of Japan, 20 Mar. 2001, Journal of structural engineering. - 66 Ultimate bending strength of concrete filled steel tubular columns with experimental databaseA lot of concrete filled steel tubular (CFT) columns subjected to axial compressive load and bending moment have been tested in Japan. It has become clear that CFT columns have many excellent structural properties, such as high compressive strength, large ductility and large energy absorption capacity. Database for maximum bending strength Mmax are produced on the basis of experimental works which were performed in Japan. Theoretical strength Mpc is calculated assuming full plastic stress distribution. - Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B), Kobe University, Apr. 2022 - Mar. 2026Development and performance assessment of resilient prefabricated concrete columns付着強度の低い、超高強度ウルボン筋を正方形状に配置したPCaRC円形断面柱の耐震性能および修復性能を実験的に調べるために、柱に用いる主筋の種別(異形鉄筋、ウルボン筋)、ウルボン筋の端部定着長さ(20dと30d)、柱のせん断スパン比(1.7と2.5)、柱に作用する軸力の大きさ(軸力比が0.20と0.33)、および柱の製作方法(一体打ちとプレキャスト)を実験変数に取り、ウルボン筋を用いたRC造プレキャスト円形柱と一体打ち柱を計12体を製作し、それらの試験体に対して一定軸力下における繰り返し曲げせん断実験を行った結果、以下の知見が得られた。 1)薄肉円形鋼管による横拘束とウルボン筋を主筋として用いれば、普通強度の異形鉄筋を用いたRC造柱よりレジリエンスの高いプレキャストRC造柱の創出が可能である。 2)径厚比が132である非常に薄肉のボルトで接合した円形鋼管で拘束されたRC造柱は、軸力比が0.33と比較的高い軸力下においても、部材角6.0%まで高いドリフト硬化性(耐力が水平変位の増加に伴い上昇し続ける特性)を示せると同時に、部材角4.0%までの載荷を経験した後の残留部材角は最大経験部材角の1.5/10まで小さく抑制でき、優れたレジリエンスを有する。 3)アンカーで定着されたウルボン筋の埋め込み深さは呼び名直径の20倍程度にすれば、せん断スパン比にかかわらず、薄肉鋼板で拘束されたプレキャストRC柱は部材角6.0%まで一体打ち柱と同等なドリフト硬化性と修復性を示せる。 4)ウルボン筋を断面内において正方形状に配置し、ボルトで接合した薄肉鋼板で拘束した円形プレキャストRC柱の履歴性能を評価するため、ウルボン筋の付着すべりの影響を考慮に入れた解析手法を構築した。構築した解析手法で求めた本提案PCaRC柱の履歴性状を大変形域まで比較的精度よく評価できる。
- 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業 基盤研究(C), 基盤研究(C), 神戸大学, Apr. 2020 - Mar. 2023CFT部材の新しい接合法とCFT構造の中低層建築物への展開柱梁接合部に梁貫通形式接合を用い,柱継手に孔あき鋼板リブを用いた継手を用いたコンクリート充填鋼管構造(CFT)の構造システムを提案し,その構造性能評価法を提示することによって,CFT構造を中低層の建築物へ使用拡大をすることを目的として,2021年度は,1)孔あき鋼板を用いたCFT柱継手の性能検討と2)貫通形式CFT柱梁接合部の接合部性能の検討,を行った. CFT柱継手については,2020年度に行った孔あき鋼板の引抜き実験の結果より,孔あき鋼板の引抜き耐力評価法の検討を行った.また,柱継手に用いる際にコンクリートの二面せん断耐力を確保するために新たな孔形状の孔あき鋼板として長孔形状の孔をもつ孔あき鋼板の引抜き実験を行った.コンクリート強度と孔形状を実験変数にとり,29体の実験を行った.孔の二面せん断面積と引抜き耐力に相関関係があることを示した.また,添付したひずみゲージより応力分担の割合を検討し,最大引抜き耐力時にはほとんどの軸力分担を孔部の二面せん断でふたんしていることを確認した. 貫通形式CFT柱梁接合部については,今年度は柱の断面形状を円形として,柱に軸力を導入して,軸力比と柱鋼管の径厚比をパラメタとして実験をおこなった.接合部全体の荷重変形関係は,軸力比や径厚比の大小によらず紡錘形状の安定した履歴形状を示しており,鋼梁の曲げ耐力が十分に発揮されていた.鋼梁周辺の柱鋼管のひずみを観察すると,柱断面形状が角形の場合に観察された応力集中が観察されず,鋼管周方向の引張抵抗が曲げ引張側の応力伝達に寄与することがわかった.

The proposed wall pier consists of normal-strength concrete and ultra-high strength bars (SBPDN bars) placed in the edge zones of wall section. Through experimental and theoretical works, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1) The proposed drift-hardening PCaRC wall piers with axial load ratio of 0.075 and 0.15 exhibited drift hardening behavior till drift ratio of 3.0% and 3.5%, respectively, when each SBPDN rebar was housed in sheath duct with embedded depth of 25d. Besides, the peak drift of the proposed wall piers was proportional to the shear span ratio as well as the steel amount of transverse reinforcement in the wall panel, and was in reverse proportion to the axial load ratio. 2)Utilizing finite spring method, the hysteretic loops can be accurately predicted till large drift, and the effect of bond slip of SBPDN rebars on the overall seismic behavior of the proposed wall piers could be reliably evaluated.

The occurrence of the long period ground motions and pulse ground motions is predicted. The important buildings have to keep function, even if those are excited by such ground motions. In this study, researches on the semi-active control of base-isolation system and the active control by large mass damper were conducted for the purpose mentioned above. In those researches, a new verification method of the real-time hybrid simulation using shaking-table and hydraulic actuator (we call this "Dual real-time hybrid simulation") was proposed and response compensation was developed. In conclusions, a semi-active control method for non-linear base-isolation system to reduce the floor acceleration unaffected by hardening of isolators and an active control method to reduce the response displacement were proposed.Competitive research funding

The experimental parameters are axial load ratio, shear span ratio, and the maximum tip displacement of the columns during the initial loading. First, each column was cyclically loaded to the targeted displacement. Subsequently, the test columns were retrofitted and reloaded. The damaged portions of each column were retrofitted with the polymer cement mortar, and the epoxy resin was injected into the cracks. The crack width was measured to assess the relation of crack width and the experienced drift ratio. These are valuable to predict the degree of damage from the crack width after an earthquake. Numerical analyses were also conducted to explain the retrofitted column behavior. The effect of strain hysteresis of concrete at first loading was considered for the behavior at second loading.Competitive research funding

Nine open-web type of SRC beam-column specimens and six RC beam-column specimens were tested under combined constant axial load and cyclic lateral load. At first, each column was loaded to the targeted displacement. After the first loading, the test columns were retrofitted and reloaded. The damaged portions of each column were retrofitted with the polymer cement mortar, and the resin of epoxy injected into the cracks. All of the retrofitted columns have shown higher load carrying capacity and lower stiffness, while the experienced displacement in each column was different.Competitive research funding

As to the concrete filled columns, Tsuda investigated relation between experienced lateral drift angle and residual one of concrete filled steel tubular columns. As the results, 1) residual drift angle becomes large as the axial load ratio of the column becomes large, 2)the effect of width-thickness ratio and diameter-thickness ratio on the residual drift angle is not apparent, comparing with the axial load ratio, 3) in specimens with high axial load ratio, the residual drift angle becomes large after the column attained the shrinkage limit. Moreover, accumulated plastic angles are calculated using previously performed test. As the criterion, shrinkage limit, local bucking limit, strength assurance limit are selected, and effect of width-thickness ratio, diameter-thickness ratio and axial load ratio are examined. Fujinaga and Tsuda investigated the relations between cyclic and monotonic behavior on CFT beam-columns by using the previously performed experiment and numeric analysis. While in the small deflection stage, monotonic behavior correspond to envelop curve of cyclic behavior, in the large deflection stage, monotonic behavior correspond to accumulated curve of cyclic one. As to SRC beam, Sakai and Lee performed experimental test, selecting the encased steel ratio and existence of slab as the test parameters. Sakai examined the load deflection relationship.
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), KYUSHU UNIVERSITY, 1997 - 1998Strength Estimation of Slender SRC Beam-ColumnsIn AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan) design formula for slender steel- concrete composite columns, the modified method of the superposed strength of a column section is adopted with the consideration on the effect of additional bending moment (Pdelta moment). We have already proposed an equation for evaluating the strength of slender concrete columns, and using this, we showed that the strengths of concrete filled steel tubular (CFT) columns and RC columns are well predicted. In this research, with respect to the strength of SRC columns, the end moment -axial force interaction relations are calculated assuming a sine curve deflected shape of the beam-column. In addition to the analytical work, experiment of eccentric compressive load at both end of a column was performed. As the experimental parameters, buckling length- section depth ratio, magnitude of eccentricity are selected. On the basis of the experimental and analytical results, the superposed method for evaluating the maximum strength of slender SRC columns is examined, and proposed.
