Based on the results of the first phase, we have undertaken our original studies, expanding the study field from Europe to the world, including Japan and Asia, and attained the level to publish our study results in scholarly journals, books, and conference papers. Today, studies in global and multiple art markets are rapidly progressing in international scholarship, and it is very significant that Japanese scholars are now getting involved in collaborative research.
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Early-Career Scientists, Grant-in-Aid for Early-Career Scientists, Osaka University, 01 Apr. 2020 - 31 Mar. 2023両世界大戦間期フランスの事例を中心とした写真の時代様式区分に関する制度批判的研究本年度も昨年度に引き続きコロナ禍のため海外渡航がかなわず、予定していたフランスでの一次資料調査が行えなかった。そのため二次資料およびデジタル化された資料の収集・分析が中心となった。 研究計画に従い、2021年度は戦間期のフランスでモダニズム写真の担い手とされてきた写真家や出版社に焦点を絞り、彼らが19世紀的な写真理解や撮影方法に必ずしも否定的でなかったことを明らかにすべく研究を進めた。 特に批評言説の分析に注力し、モダニズム写真の記念碑的著作とされてきた写真集『フォトグラフィ』（1930年）に、批評家のヴァルドマール・ジョルジュが寄稿した論考「写真 世界の視覚」を考察の軸とした。この論考では機械化時代に合わせた写真の用途の拡張について幅広く述べられる一方で、写真とは撮影者の主観を反映する芸術である、という旧来の芸術写真と共通する視点が維持されていた。こうした視点は昨年度考察したフランス写真協会をはじめとする保守的な組織とも共通する態度であり、これまで進歩的とされてきた媒体においても、写真の存在論的な理解がモダニズム到来以前から変化していなかったことを示している。また、当時の写真集、写真雑誌、アマチュア写真家向けのマニュアル等の出版物においても1930年代を通して、同様の態度がしばしば見られることも明らかになった。昨年度の研究成果を加味すると、1930年代のフランスの写真批評においては、保守的か進歩的かを問わず、写真＝芸術という態度が支配的であったことが指摘できる。 この成果については昨年度の調査内容と合わせ、アマチュア写真家向け雑誌『フォトシネグラフィ』（1933年-1936年）を中心とした論考としてまとめ投稿を完了しており、2022年度中の刊行が予定されている。加えて、考察対象とした写真家の一人、ロジェ・シャルについても論文を執筆し、2022年7月に刊行が確定している。

- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows, Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows, Osaka University, 2010 - 2011両大戦間期のフランスにおける美術展の地政学的研究本年度はフランス、アメリカでの現地一次資料調査を中心に行った。とりわけ、パリ・ルーヴル美術館内国立美術館アーカイヴ、アメリカ-ニューヨーク近代美術館アーカイヴでの調査が主たる成果となった。両アーカイヴでは、「独立派芸術の巨匠」展(1937年)、「国際独立派芸術の起源と発展」展(1937年)、「アメリカ美術の三世紀」展(1938年)、「キュビスムと抽象美術」展(1936年)について、昨年度から継続して調査していた一次資料の収集が完了した。それにより、フランスにおいて、一次大戦以前のモダンアートが国家主義的かつ制度的に利用されていた一方で、よりラディカルな戦後の前衛美術は当時の美術制度には組み込まれえなかったものの、一定の評価を与えられていたことが裏付けられた。また、アメリカに関連する後者二展の分析からは、フランスと同様、アメリカにおいても、国家主義と前衛主義が混在し、それらが相互に関連しながら美術を利用した外交が戦略的に展開されていたことが明確になった。 上記の成果に加えて、国際独立派展、アメリカ美術展の会場となった、ジュ・ド・ポーム関連の資料を多数入手することができ、これら両展を、当時パリで唯一公式の外国美術の受け皿であった同館の制度的な枠組の中で考察することが可能になった。また、上記の展覧会関連資料調査の過程で、多数の作品写真が基礎資料に含まれていることが明らかになった。パリ、ニューヨークの職業写真家たちによって撮影されたこれらの写真は、大規模な作品移動を伴う国際的な展覧会の準備段階で不可欠な要素だった。両大戦間期は複製写真図版の利用が本格化した時代として知られている。本年度の調査で得られたこの結果は、美術館、美術展といった制度の確立とともに、新たなメディアの発達が、相互補完的に国際的な美術状況を形成していたことを示している。
