- Abstract We investigate the effects of Fe and Sr doping on the magnetoelectric properties of CaBaCo 4 O 7 , a multiferroic polar magnet. Substituting Fe at Co sites extends the temperature and field ranges of magnetoelectric responses, transforming the material from pyroelectric to ferroelectric. Similarly, Sr doping at Ca sites induces structural changes that expand the antiferromagnetic phase without altering Co valence. These results demonstrate that impurity doping effectively optimizes the magnetoelectric properties of CaBaCo 4 O 7 , offering a promising strategy for enhancing the performance of polar magnetic materials.IOP Publishing, Jan. 2026, Journal of Physics: Conference Series, 3161(1) (1), 012033 - 012033Scientific journal

- In strong magnetic fields beyond 100 T, the significant Zeeman energy competes with the lattice interactions, where a considerable magnetostriction is expected. However, the microscopic observation of the magnetostriction above 100 T has been hindered due to the short pulse duration of microseconds and the coil’s destruction. Here, we report the observation of the giant and anisotropic magnetostriction of ∼ 1 % at 110 T in the spin-controlled crystal β − O 2 by combining the single-shot diffraction of an x-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) and the newly developed portable 100 T generator (PINK-02). The soft and anisotropic response of β − O 2 should originate in the competing van der Waals force and exchange interaction and also the frustration of spin and lattice on the triangular network. The XFEL experiment above 100 T using PINK-02 enables microscopic investigations on materials’ properties at high magnetic fields, providing insights into how spins contribute to the stability of crystal structures.American Physical Society (APS), Oct. 2025, Physical Review Letters, 135(18) (18)Scientific journal

- Two mononuclear complexes [Ni(dapsc)(H2O)2]Cl(NO3)·H2O (1) and [Ni(dapsc)(NCS)2] (2), and a bimetallic CN-bridged trinuclear molecule [NiII(dapsc)(H2O)]2[WIV(CN)8]·11H2O (3) (dapsc = 2,6-diacetylpyridine-bis(semicarbazone)) were synthesised and characterised in terms of structure and magnetic properties. All three compounds contain Ni(ii) ions in a pentagonal bipyramid coordination geometry afforded by the equatorial pentadentate ligand (dapsc) and two O- or N-donating axial ligands. The compounds differ in the relative arrangement of the complexes, intermolecular interactions and distortion from the ideal coordination geometry. The high-field EPR and magnetometric studies show large anisotropy of the Ni(ii) centres with the D parameters in the range of -10.5 to -21.2 cm-1 and negligible antiferromagnetic interactions. The easy-axis magnetic anisotropies of 1-3 were reproduced by ab initio CASSCF/NEVPT2 calculations. The ground states consist mainly of the |MS = |±1 states, which is consistent with the fact that no out-of-phase signal can be detected in the AC magnetic susceptibility measurements.Apr. 2021, Dalton transactions (Cambridge, England : 2003), 50(15) (15), 5251 - 5261, English, International magazineScientific journal

近年,正四角台塔型の低対称な磁気ユニットを内包する反強磁性体が合成され た.空間的に低対称なユニットの存在により,磁気秩序相では電気磁気効果が期待され,実際反強磁性転移に伴う誘電異常が観測されている.これまでに飽和磁場以上までの磁化曲線や誘電異常が再現可能な有効理論模型を得ている.本講演では有効模型の解析により,有限温度有限磁場下で見つかった様々な磁気秩序相の磁気パターンの多極子分解による解析結果と対応する電気磁気応答について紹介する.

2014年、大阪大学先端強磁場科学研究センターには、パルス磁場発生用としては国内最大となる10 MJのエネルギーを蓄積するコンデンサーバンクシステムが整備された。この電源を基軸とした様々なパルス強磁場実験装置開発の現状と強相関電子系研究への応用について紹介する。

フラストレート磁性体などでは、外部圧力により新奇な磁気状態が発現することがある。電子スピン共鳴(ESR)では磁気状態について詳細な情報を得ることができるが、圧力セルを用いた高圧力下では、試料空間が小さいために弱い電磁波では測定が困難である。現在、高強度・多周波数光源として使用できる遠赤外領域光源ジャイロトロンを用いた高圧下強磁場ESR測定装置の開発を行っており、その開発の現状を報告する。

我々は56Tまでのパルス強磁場下においてBa_2_CuGe_2_O_7_単結晶の磁化および電気磁気効果を測定した。磁化測定の結果は20Tを超えた磁場下でスピンが飽和している様子を示しているが、電気分極測定の結果はスピン飽和後も顕著な電気磁気効果の存在を示している。本会ではこの物質が磁気秩序相および磁化飽和状態で示す電気磁気効果の起源について考察する。

最近局所的に反転対称性の無い正四角台塔型のユニット,Cu_4_O_12_, を内包する擬二次元物質系 !LaTeX$A$(TiO)Cu_4_(PO_4_)_4_ (!LaTeX$A$=Ba, Sr)が新たに合成された.本講演では,系の対称性を考慮した局在スピン系の理論模型の解析 結果を報告する.具体的には以下の点について報告する.有限磁場下の解析を行った結果,実験で得られた磁化曲線を良く再現することがわ かった.さらに,高磁場領域において,磁化曲線にはほとんど変化をもたらさない反強磁性相間の隠れた相転移が存在することを発見した.ま たこの相転移が格子のカイラリティによって制御可能であることがわかった.

- NMR study on the quasi one-dimensional antiferromagnet BaCo2Si2O7 III<p>1次元磁性体BaCo_2_Si_2_O_7_は、二価のCoイオンを含み、CoO_4_四面体がc軸方向に一次元鎖を形成していることが知られており、TN=21K以下で弱強磁性をともなったIsing型反強磁性体であるといわれている。さらに、容易軸に磁場印加すると、14T付近で大きな磁化ジャンプが見られ、これは大きな磁気異方性のためであると思われている。我々は、^29^Siと^59^CoのNMRで得られたスペクトル解析を用いて、ミクロな磁性について研究した。</p>The Physical Society of Japan, 2017, Meeting Abstracts of the Physical Society of Japan, 72(0) (0), 1120 - 1120, Japanese
- Pulsed high-field ESR in Ca2CoSi2O7<p>オケルマナイト構造を持つA_2_CoB_2_O_7_(A=Ca,Sr,Ba,B=Si,Ge)は磁気誘起の電気分極を持つマルチフェロイック物質である。低温で超格子構造を持つCa_2_CoSi_2_O_7_は異方性が小さく、c軸方向に磁場印加時に20-50Tの範囲で飽和磁化の85%程度の磁化プラトーを持つなど特異な磁化過程を示す。本研究では、Ca_2_CoSi_2_O_7_において電子スピン共鳴実験から、その電気磁気特性を調べた。</p>The Physical Society of Japan, 2017, Meeting Abstracts of the Physical Society of Japan, 72(0) (0), 1129 - 1129, Japanese
- Change of Magnetoelectric Properties induced by Magnetic Phase Transition in CaBaM4O7(M=Co,Fe) Single Crystals II<p>CaBaCo_4_O_7_とCaBaFe_4_O_7_は同じ空間群に属し、室温で自発電気分極を持ち、64K(Co),275K(Fe)で異なる磁気構造を持つフェリ磁性転移が起きる。この磁気転移に伴って電気分極の変化が生じるが、そのメカニズムは明らかでない。本研究ではCaBaM_4_O_7_(M=Co,Fe)単結晶を作製し、磁気転移に伴う結晶構造の変化や、異方性を考慮した電場(磁場)下における磁化(電気分極)を調べ、両者を比較した結果を報告する。</p>The Physical Society of Japan, 2017, Meeting Abstracts of the Physical Society of Japan, 72(0) (0), 1130 - 1130, Japanese
- High field and high frequency ESR measurement of the fully frustrated dimerized quantum magnet Ba2CoSi2O6Cl2<p>Ba2CoSi2O6Cl2は、我々のグループで開拓を行った新規S=1/2スピンダイマー系磁性体である。これまで単結晶を用いた強磁場磁化測定及び非弾性中性子散乱測定を行い、それぞれ飽和磁化の1/2 に階段状の磁化プラトーを示すこと及び磁気励起に分散が全くないことを明らかにしてきた。これらの結果は、ダイマー間相互作用にほぼ完全なフラストレーションが存在し、臨界磁場以上でマグノンが量子結晶化していることを示している。今回我々はパルスマグネットと遠赤外分子レーザーを用いたBa2CoSi2O6Cl2の強磁場高周波電子スピン共鳴測定を行ったので、その結果について報告を行う。</p>The Physical Society of Japan, 2017, Meeting Abstracts of the Physical Society of Japan, 72(0) (0), 1073 - 1073, Japanese

The preparation of monodomain crystal samples and the development of high-field electron spin resonance measurements proceeded. In particular, I developed high-field and multi-frequency electron spin resonance measurements and advanced measurement techniques such as the realization of electric-field-applied electron spin resonance measurement and improvement of sensitivity of pulsed high-field electron spin resonance measurement. The developed high-field electron spin resonance experiments were also applied to magnetic materials other than the target materials, and many research results were obtained.
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Sophia University, 01 Apr. 2015 - 31 Mar. 2018Control of electric domains in spin-driven multiferroic materials by means of rotating magnetic fieldsWe have investigated change of electric domains in high-quality BiFeO3 single crystal grown by the laser-diode floating-zone method, as a function of applied magnetic-field (H) direction. We have demonstrated that electric polarization along the Y direction (PY) has been controlled by means of rotating H. Namely, PY was proportional to cos2q, where q is the angle of applied H direction against [100]. q dependence of PY has a π-periodicity, which means that PY remains unchanged by reversal of applied H direction. Furthermore, we have studied nonreciprocal DC magnetoelectric response, i.e., crystalline (polar) direction dependence of magnetoelectric susceptibilities for CaBaM4O7 (M=Co,Fe) single crystals. Especially, we focused on the electric-field (Ec)-induced magnetization (Mb,Mc) in CaBaM4O7, which had almost not yet been performed. We have found that the obtained magnetoelectric susceptibility α32 defined as ΔMb=α32Ec has a different sign depending on the polar direction.

Substitution of Fe or Ga for Mn-site suppresses both the A-AFM order and competing ferromagnetic (FM) correlation, whereas Cr substitution suppresses only the A-AFM order but reactivates the underlying FM correlation via double-exchange mechanism. In Nd0.45Sr0.55Mn0.95Cr0.05O3, the A-AFM state with the orbital-order is changed into the orbital-disordered three-dimensional FM metallic state by applying magnetic field of 12 T, which is much smaller than that of the parent compound. In addition, We have studied impurity-doping effect in multiferroic CaBa(Co1-xFex)4O7 with 0≦x≦0.25. The magnetization curve shows that the magnetic moment sharply rises at 64K for x = 0 and 54K for x = 0.005, while it does not change for 0.0156≦x. This result indicates that the ferrimagnetic state disappears above 0.0156.
