    – In recent years, the power conversion capability of grid-connected power supplies using the photovoltaic generation system have been introduced rapidly. The power conditioning system (PCS) of PV generation system operates the reactive and active power flow control in accordance with the line voltage regulation level. The reactive power flow control by using the PCS and/or SVC can effectively decrease the line voltage level, however, the voltage imbalance of high voltage distributed line become the cause that results simultaneously.
    This paper describes the novel power flow controller which is installed near by the pole transformer, to maintain the voltage level the grid-connected distribution line and the voltage imbalance compensation at the high voltage distribution line. Simulation results using the Matlab/Simulink are demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed power flow converter system.

    Proposed is a new type of magnetoplasma thruster using one radio frequency system for both plasma production and ion heating. This is accomplished with a rotating field antenna consisting of a pair of antenna windings, which are fed by two radio frequency outputs with relative phase difference of -n to n. If the rotating field antenna excites, by a proper phasing, the fields polarized in left-hand sense with respect to the external magnetic field, the fields couple to slow ion cyclotron waves that accelerate ions at the ion cyclotron resonance. On the other hand, the right-hand polarized fields produced by opposite phasing do not couple with the slow waves and their energy goes to electrons via fast wave excitation and enhances ionization. It is experimentally verified that for hydrogen plasmas the density of produced plasmas and the temperature of heated ions change sinusoidally with the phase difference peaking at pi/2 and -pi/2, respectively, showing the ability to control power ratio of the ion heating to the plasma production by only changing the phase difference. At optimum condition, the exhaust velocity of ions corresponds to the specific impulse of 6000s. It is thus demonstrated that the use of the rotating radio frequency system provides novel controllability for the magnetoplasma thruster.

    This paper presents the effects of introduction of residential polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) co-generation system with batteries in comparison with conventional systems that consist of a gas boiler and electric power from commercial grid, by computer simulation. The PEFC co-generation system in commercial use provides the average primary energy saving rate of 12.7% and CO2 reduction rate of 15.4% with respect to the conventional system. Addition of 8.0-kWh batteries to the PEFC system results in limited improvements of 0.8 points and 0.9 points in the reduction rates, respectively, yielding 13.5% and 16.3%, when using a conventional operation planning method. A new operation planning method is proposed in order to make a precise control of charging and discharging the batteries. The average primary energy saving rate reaches up to 16.9% by the improvement of 4.2 points, and CO2 reduction rate reaches up to 20.4% by the improvement of 5.0 points in the PEFC co-generation system with 8.0-kWh batteries using the new operation planning method. The new method can thus realize a substantial improvement in reduction rates. Furthermore, it is shown that the suitable battery module capacity for the residential PEFC co-generation system is 4.0 kWh. © 2011 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

    This paper deals with the novel soft-switching inverter topology and its capability of high frequency switching technology to be applicable to the power conversion system. To realize the switching power supply in the MHz switching application, there are some problems to be solved. In order to overcome these problems, we propose the phase-shift controlled zero current switching (ZCS) inverter and its control scheme. This circuit has soft-switching capability in the MHz switching range by the ZCS circuit topology and can control the output power by the phase-shift controlled method. In addition, effectiveness of this circuit is confirmed by comparative experimental study between the conventional hard-switching circuit and proposed circuit.

  • Phase-shift controlled zero current switching high frequency inverter in the MHz frequency range

    This paper deals with the novel soft-switching inverter topology and its capability of high frequency switching to be adopted to the power conversion system. There are some problems to be solved, to realize the switching power supply in the MHz switching application. Especially, switching loss and EMI noise increase by the MHz switching operation is significant. In order to overcome these problems, we propose the phase-shift controlled ZCS (zero current switching) inverter in this paper. This circuit has soft-switching capability in the MHz switching range by the ZCS circuit topology and can control the output power by the phase-shift controlled method. In addition, effectiveness of this circuit is confirmed by simulation and experimental result.

    This paper deals with the introduction effects on the basis of the comparative study of residential PEFC (polymer electrolyte fuel cell) co-generation systems and conventional systems that consist of a conventional gas boiler or a condensing gas boiler or a CO2 heat pump and the thermal power plant, by using the computer simulation. The target systems for estimation conform to real systems in the market and the energy demand data acquired from the past field tests was applied. As a result, it becomes clear that the residential PEFC co-generation systems have high performance in the energy saving and the CO2 reduction, from a comparison study with conventional systems and CO2 heat pump system. Concretely to say, the average energy saving rate that the residential PEFC co-generation system provides is 13.9% and the average CO2 reduction rate is 16.5% using quantity of reduction of CO2 as estimate function. Otherwise, the average energy saving rate that the CO2 heat pump system provides is 13.7% and the average CO2 reduction rate is 10.0%. Furthermore we have proved the effectiveness a radiator in the residential PEFC co-generation system. © 2010 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

  • Fast and efficient data acquisition system for ubiquitous participation in DEC experiment on GAMMA 10

    This paper deals with the experimental result that is obtained from the GAMMA 10 and Kobe Cusp direct energy conversion (DEC) experiment system in the Tsukuba-Kobe university internet connected remote participation system. A DSO (Digital Sampling Oscilloscope), a PCMCIA based AID converter and a PC (Personal Computer) server as the controller and the data storage server are used as a simulation experiment Of Data Acquisition(DAQ) system. The communication between the Kobe University and the University of Tsukuba did the information transmission between the monitor site of Kobe and the experimental system operator site of Tsukuba, by using the communication of the browser base. The experimental result in the latest shot can be reflected to the parameter change for next shot. The parameter setting and control of DSO etc. becomes possible, without controlling through the operator of the University of Tsukuba by using the common gateway interface (CGI) based program.

    The soft-switching high-frequency AC link converters are more suitable for cogeneration systems using new energies such as solar batteries because of the downsized transformer, lowered switching losses, reduced EMI noise and so on. However, most of the soft-switching quasi-resonant PWM converters cause an increase of conduction losses due to a circulating current generation. Furthermore their resonant circuits are influenced by the load current. This paper presents a novel high-frequency AC link three-phase cycloinverter which can solve these problems. Its operation principle is illustrated and evaluated by means of simulated results.

  • Instantaneous space voltage vector controlled three-phase ZVS-PWM active converter with new auxiliary transformer-assisted resonant DC link

    In this paper, a novel prototype of three-phase AC-DC active power converter operating at zero voltage soft switching sinusoidal PWM scheme is presented which incorporates a new transformer-assisted resonant rank DC link (TQRDCL) topology. The operating principle of TQRDCL circuit Is described including unique features and its design procedure is discussed in terms of the theoretical analysis. The three phase soft-switched active converter with supply voltage senssorless estimation strategy is proposed from a theoretical point of view. The simulated operation characteristics of this converter system which incorporate the new prototype of TQRDCL curcuit and advanced control implementation is demonstrated as compared with hard-switching-based PWM converter systems.

    The newly-proposed Resonant DC Link (RDCL) topology operating under the high-frequency trans-former-assisted zero-voltage soft switching commutation principle is presented in this paper. This basic circuit operating principle and the optimum design procedure for Transformer-Assisted Quasi-Resonant DC Link (TQRDCL) which excludes its load current sensing-based predictive feedback control loop and the DC voltage-clamped PWM function are considered as compared with the conventional RDCL circuit topologies. The performance of three-phase ZVS-PWM inverter system is discussed and evaluated in terms of the comparative study between TQRDCL three-phase soft-switching PWM type and conven-tional three-phase hard-switching PWM inverter systems on the basis of the simulating and experimental results.

  • Novel Resonant DC Link Topology Operating Under HF Transformer-Assisted Commutation Principle and Its Three-Phase CVCF Inverter Application with DSP Control Implementation

    To minimize switching losses/stresses and EMI noise,the new DC link topology with Auxiliary Transformer-assisted Quasi-Resonant DC Link (TQRDCL),which excludes load current predictive control is proposed. Its operating characteristics and design prosedure of new TQRDCL are described in this paper. Newly-proposed CVCF inverter system with TQRDCL,which is controlled DSP system is discussed and evaluated in terms of using the computer-aided simulating results. In addition to this,in order to comfirm the reduced switching losses/stresses and EMI noise level,TQRDCL-CVCF inverter is developed trially. This equipment suitable for CVCF/UPS system is tested and evaluated under linear and non-linear electrical loads from a practical point of view.

    (社)電気学会半導体電力変換・モータドライブ合同研究会, Jan. 2017, Japanese, 近年,住宅地域において,太陽光発電システム(以下, PV)の導入が進んでいる.PV 多数連系系統において,逆潮流による低圧需要家の受電電圧の上昇,および PV 連系家庭からみて上位系統である高圧配電系統の電力不平衡が問題となる. PV の逆潮流電力による連系点電圧の上昇は, PV出力を抑制することから発電機会を損じ,連系場所によって経済的不公平が生じる問題が指摘されている.さらに連系点電圧上昇対策として, PV が進相無効電力を出力する制御や, SVC(静止型無効電力補償装置)の低圧系統への適用が検討され,高圧配電系統における電力不平衡の対策としても SVC による無効電力制御が検討されている.しかし,無効電力の増加は上位系統の配電損失が増加し安定性にも悪影響を与えるといった懸念もある.本稿では,上位系統における無効電力成分の増加を抑制しつつ, PV, Domestic conference

    (社)電気学会半導体電力変換・モータドライブ合同研究会, Jan. 2017, Japanese, ダイキン工業 テクニカル・イノベーションセンター, 近年では宇宙ミッションの長距離長時間化に伴い電気推進エンジンの開発が進められている.電気推進エンジンは燃料を使用し推進する従来の化学推進エンジンに比べて推進力において劣るため打ち上げなどには不向きであるが比推力において勝るため推進剤の消費量を大幅に抑えることができる.長距離・長期運用のための小型軽量化を考えた場合は従来二つ搭載されたプラズマ機構を一つにすることが求められる.そこで研究されているプラズマ生成用アンテナが回転電磁界型アンテナである.回転電磁界型アンテナに適用可能な高周波インバータとして二出力位相可変高周波インバータが開発されてきた.このインバータは一つの電源を二つのハーフブリッジインバータで共有した構造となっており二つのアンテナに電源を供給することが可能となっている.この回路は 1.9MHz の高周波動作するためスイッチング損失が無視でき, Domestic conference
